Former Featured Artist
Joe Crookston

I recently became aware of Joe Crookston through some friends and wow, what a gift! His latest CD "Darkling & the BlueBird Jubilee" has been spinning in my car since I received it. I've been struggling with the right words to describe it, but I think it's quirky, fun, pensive, and introspective. Like most CDs that are worth listening to, you will have to listen to this one over and over. It's highly likely that you'll move from song to song, deciding that this one is now your new favorite song (but you'll constantly be rediscovering a favorite). In this era of disposable and forgettable music, that is a joyous problem to have.

You can visit his ALN page here: Joe Crookston
You can visit his CD page here: Darkling & the BlueBird Jubilee
or his personal website at: www.joecrookston.com

So, you owe it to yourself to discover Joe Crookston (and he deserves it too!). We need more artists like him (and the many more unsung heroes out there)! Enjoy!

The Major Labels

This group, with members Bleu, Mike Viola and Ducky Carlisle, have released their first CD "Aquavia." It is a strong first release and is highly enjoyable. We have listened to it quite a bit (and from beginning to end, which really says something). You deserve a break from the typical pop sound - this CD is a nice musical detour.

You can read our little review at their artist page: The Major Labels. You can find their Liners here: Aquavia and you can visit their myspace to read more about them and pick up a copy of the CD. Which we recommend:

Former Featured Artist
Rhesus

The new EP from Rhesus, an English group whose music I've been listening to lately, makes you wish there were more tracks on the disc. (Actually, there is  - since there's a hidden track!) Anyway, it's a very cool collection of songs. The band sounds tight and I'm very excited about hearing their complete album. Soon I hope.

Their new release entitled Narcolepsy Baby can be purchased via iTunes, Amazon or on their Myspace page:

www.myspace.com/rhesus

or their website at:

Former Featured Artist
Richard Snow

Richard Snow's music is a mix of old and new. Richard's music conjurs images of Brian Wilson and the Byrds but is still able to make his own musical statements. A tall order but easily accomplished.

His most recent album has been re-released by SideBMusic. Tuesday Music has been remastered and includes additional tracks. Y
ou can listen to his music (and buy the album) at his labels website:

Former Featured Artist
Nicholas Alan

Nicholas Alan's new release, an EP entitled "Busker" is a alternatively spare, simple, wry, rich and complicated mix of well-crafted pop tunes. The album takes you along on a ride with soft piano-driven songs, mixed with faster paced songs all written with evocative lyrics. You can read his liner notes by clicking HERE.

Mike Viola

Everybody knows that I love Mike Viola's music. I've been listening to him before I even knew it was him (he was the voice of "That Thing You Do!") and when I discovered his new music, it all fell into place.

We're highlighting his most recent release "Lurch," but I love his previous live album "Just Before Dark." It would be wise to pick up these recordings any way you possibly can.

You simply can't go wrong listening to his music, it never spoils and keeps on giving.

You can visit his artist page by clicking here.
