Statement of Purpose

In the preparation of the mono Pet Sounds CD bonus disc, every effort has been made to make this historic album sound the way it did in the studio when Brian Wilson produced it in 1966. The original tape was transferred using a special custom 24 bit analog converter, and all equalization was performed in the analog domain in order to better preserve the sound of the recordings. No remixing was attempted as it was felt that the result would not be true to Brian’s vision of the album. This CD has been digitally remastered using the HDCD system which offers a dramatic improvement over conventional 16 bit mastering systems.
